Chermette Origine

After years of being the black sheep of The Burgundy Family, then making a name for itself through its fun, but insubstantial nouveau wines, Beaujolais is tossing aside former stumbles and is making meaningful and noteworthy wines out of its signature Gamay grapes. As we transition out of summer, and into cooler nights, crisp breezes, with bright sunny days, Beaujolais is a beautiful fit. Naturally bright and energetic, these wines are the perfect in-between for the remaining warmth of the season, while still having the structure and warmth of a red.

One of our favorite daily drinkers is the Chermette Origine, whose name points to the Beaujolais traditions that are followed in its making, as well as the origin of wanting to make a natural, substantial wine instead of the popular nouveau. True to form, their Origine is fruity, brimming with strawberry, raspberry, and cherry. The old vines, however, deliver more complexity than fresh fruit, with flavors such as the hint of sweet, fragrant almonds. Chermette’s Origine is a truly enjoyable wine and a great introduction into the complex region of Beaujolais.
